Get to the Front Page: How to Optimize Your WordPress Site for Google
New York SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
Hosted alongside the WordPress NYC Meetup group.
Agenda:
Presentation 1: How to Optimize Your WordPress Site for Google Search.
Every webmaster with a WordPress site should know best practices for ensuring a search engine friendly site. In this presentation, Edward will show the basics of using Google Search Console (Google’s proprietary portal into their search index), and his two favorite search engine optimization plugins for WordPress. He’ll also answer all the SEO questions you can dish out!
Come prepared with your laptops and plenty of questions. Extra bonus to those that come with their website already verified on Google Search Console (it’s just like verifying on Google Analytics!).
Presented by Edward Sturm.
Presentation 2: Local WordPress Development With “Local by Flywheel”
Until “Local by Flywheel”, developing WordPress in a local environment was a hassle. Assuming you could get WAMP, MAMP or XAMP to play nicely, making WordPress sites with a desktop app could be a frustrating experience.
“Local by Flywheel”, solved all of that. With an easy to use interface creating new or imported sites is a breeze. It takes all the yuckiness out of the old way of local development and makes it something that everyone can do.
In this demo I’ll show you how to:
1. Create a new site.
2. How to access local files and PHPMyAdmin.
3. How to import and export a site.
4. How to use a Blueprint.
5. Adjust your settings.
Presented by Bud Kraus.
